The initiative brief

One page: what it is, what exists at the end, and which goal it serves.

The deliverable

What it is

The brief exists to make an initiative startable by someone who was not in the conversation that produced it. If it needs a meeting to explain, it is not finished.

The most common failure is naming the initiative after a desired state rather than a piece of work. “Improve satisfaction” cannot be completed; “rebuild the onboarding sequence” can.

If the brief needs a meeting to explain, it is not finished. That is the test, and it is a strict one.
