The steps
Each thing that happens to the work, in the order it actually happens.
The part
What it is
A step is a place where the work changes state. Anything that does not change the work is a handover or a queue and belongs in a different element.
Rework loops need to appear explicitly. A process drawn as a straight line when it contains a loop back to step three is not a map of anything real.

The attributes it carries
Each attribute is one of the framework’s shared types. What a date is, and how it is written, is defined once for the whole model — the note here says what it means in this particular place.
Processing time
How long the work is actively being done, as distinct from how long it takes.
