The buffer
The reserve that lets the schedule survive an ordinary disruption — because a plan at full capacity breaks visibly.
The deliverable
What it is
Illness, an urgent request or a contributor becoming unavailable happens most months. A plan with no slack breaks each time, and the break is visible to the audience.
The most practical buffer is pre-produced evergreen content: pieces made ahead and held, which cost nothing extra and can fill any gap.

Two or three finished evergreen pieces held in reserve turn a crisis into a substitution.
The other components in capacity
The available capacity
What the organisation can actually produce and approve per period — the figure the plan should be built against rather than compared with afterwards.
LearnThe constraint
Which step limits throughput, which is rarely the writing — and adding capacity elsewhere lengthens the queue.
