The available capacity
What the organisation can actually produce and approve per period — the figure the plan should be built against rather than compared with afterwards.
The deliverable
What it is
Capacity is calculable: hours available multiplied by who has them, divided by the production time per format. It is rarely calculated, and the plan is built from ambition instead.
The approval step has its own capacity and it is usually the smaller one, which means production capacity alone overstates what can be published.

Approval capacity is set by one or two people’s availability, not by the size of the content team.
The other components in capacity
The constraint
Which step limits throughput, which is rarely the writing — and adding capacity elsewhere lengthens the queue.
LearnThe buffer
The reserve that lets the schedule survive an ordinary disruption — because a plan at full capacity breaks visibly.
