What it is
A purpose that cannot be traced to current work is not aligned to anything, however often it is repeated. The cascade record is the artefact that makes the connection checkable.
It runs in both directions. Read downwards it shows what the purpose produced; read upwards it answers the more useful question of why a given piece of work exists at all.
