The erosion watch
The indicators that would show a competence weakening, checked by someone, before the loss becomes obvious.
The deliverable
What it is
Competences erode slowly and are noticed suddenly, usually when a piece of work that used to be routine goes wrong.
The indicators exist and are ordinary: how long tasks take, how often work is escalated, how many people can do the difficult version, what customers say about it.

Set the threshold before the reading arrives. Interpreted in context afterwards, no reading is ever bad enough to act on.

What each competence actually rests on — the people, systems, relationships and knowledge without which it stops working.
LearnThe embedding record
What has been done to hold each competence in the organisation rather than in individuals — and what that has cost.
