The triggers
The events that require the mission to be checked against the organisation — because the calendar is not one of them.
The deliverable
What it is
The events that make a mission inaccurate are knowable: a new market, a discontinued line, an acquisition, a material shift in where revenue comes from, a change of leadership.
Event triggers work better than an annual slot because they fire when something has actually changed, which is when the check produces a finding.

Annual review produces small edits that accumulate into a drift nobody decided. Use events, with a longer fallback.
The other components in keeping it current
The version record
Each version with its dates and what prompted the change — because the sequence says how often the organisation has redefined itself.
LearnThe explanation
What changed and why, in a form that can be given to anyone who asks — because people notice, and being unable to explain it is worse than the change.
