Change impact assessment
Which groups a change affects, how much of their daily work it alters, and what else they are being asked to absorb at the same time.
The deliverable
What it is
The impact assessment is the starting point for adoption. A change announced to everyone at once treats the lightly affected and the heavily affected the same, and both notice.
It concerns the people whose work changes, not the wider stakeholders. How those stakeholders are informed and consulted is set in Stakeholders · Engagement; this assessment asks what actually changes on Monday morning for each group.

What it is made of
Each element is a constituent part of the component. Follow one to see the attributes it carries.
Affected groups
The groups whose work the change touches, counted, and tied to the initiative that causes the change.
3 attributes: Group · People · Initiative
LearnDegree of change
For each group, which aspects of their work change — process, tools, roles, reporting lines — and by how much.
3 attributes: Aspect · Degree · What stops
LearnChange load
How many other changes the same group is absorbing in the same period, so that saturation can be seen before it arrives.
2 attributes: Concurrent changes · Change window
Learn
Count change load per group across all initiatives. Each programme sees only itself; the people affected see all of them at once.
The other components in adoption
Adoption tracker
Where each affected group stands in taking up the change, with a usage measure that shows whether the new way is actually in use.
LearnResistance log
The objections raised to a change, where they came from, and what each one turned out to be pointing at.
LearnReinforcement register
The mechanisms that hold a change in place after the programme ends, and the old ways of working that were deliberately retired.
